PRE -BOOKING FAQ's
This is a compilation of questions we get asked all the time when we meet with new clients and contains questions you might ask all photographers you interview. We cover everything from budget to planning and hope it is helpful in your selection process. Please feel free to shout if you’ve anything we’ve not covered here we’ll be happy to help in any way.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE?
My clients typically are those that value artistic, creative, emotional images – couple’s who want their story told via documentary-style images, ie. limited posing, classic images both stylish and glamourous. I try to be inconspicuous in capturing the details and look for the spontaneous and unexpected. I hope you can tell from my portfolio, I really love what I do and commit to offering every client the highest level of service. A wedding is not a fashion shoot, it’s not about me or my talent/creative process. I share my talent and passion but am always respectful that it is a very private, intimate event I am capturing, a once in a lifetime event!!
DO YOU HAVE A SECOND SHOOTER and WILL WE NEED A SHOT LIST?
Yes for every event I have an associate with me who will second shoot and assists with lighting and equipment as needed but I am the primary photographer.
NO to the shot list !! If you need to follow a shot list then I'm not the photog for you. I believe "over-planning kills the magic". I know what we need in my mind and we will have discussed this in pre-planning and I hope you'll trust me to do my "thang". I promise I'll deliver more than you expect.
CAN WE VIEW A COMPLETE WEDDING?
Sure ….. check out our proofing/client section HERE. Most of our weddings are public however we can password protect your’s if you wish.
HOW ARE IMAGES DELIVERED?
Once I have completed the full creative edit images are held in a private cloud-based gallery online for 12 months and you may then download all images for storage on your secure devices.
This allows you to view your images from any device, anywhere. It can be shared with all your peeps and anyone you choose to share the link and password. It allows favorite collections and a print room feature to order archival prints from any time. You can instantly share images to all your social networks. It allows downloadable folders of all images in two different resolutions for the final archive. Your images will be safe from theft or fire.
All images remain the copyright of me, however you will have “home use” license to print as many as you’d like or share across social media. You receive both high and low res images.
DO YOU SHOOT DIGITAL OR FILM?
All my professional work is shot digitally with Sony equipment. I love the instant gratification of knowing you’ve “got the shot” that digital provides. I’m a purist with my processing though. I strive to create a clean, timeless image and I don’t believe your images should look swallowed by the latest photoshop technique. I “grew up” shooting film in my native Australia and developed my journalistic eye on the streets of China/Hong Kong where I lived for 4 years.
WHERE ARE YOU BASED and WILL YOU TRAVEL?
Currently I am based in Atlanta, GA and live with my precious cat and two dogs, however, I travel Worldwide to shoot weddings. In 2017 forty percent of my commissions were not local and I’m Australian so I’m always scouting weddings back home and California is a halfway point LOVE shooting out there too. Travel expenses are additional and vary per location.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO SEE OUR IMAGES?
Online galleries are posted and viewable within 4-6 weeks of the wedding date. We select and creatively edit all images shot on the day. Digital jpeg files are available for download within 16 weeks of the wedding date to allow for any edit requests you may have be completed. The number of photographs taken depends on many things – the number of guests, hours of coverage, types of events. Our minimum is 400 and a typical 8 hour day would produce approximately 1000 images.
DETERMINING YOUR PHOTO BUDGET?
As with everything in life with wedding photog’s you “get what you pay for” I respect my time and my talent and my pricing reflects this. After all, you will spend on making your day unforgettable, probably the best investment you can make is to hire a trusted talent to preserve those memories forever. There’s no second chance or dress rehearsal here. Even with hundred's of weddings under my belt they never lose their magic and uniqueness.
WHAT IF YOU BECOME ILL and CAN’T ATTEND?
This would be highly unlikely although should this occur we will provide coverage from our second shooter. I am also a member of many national and local organizations and networking groups upon which we could call to find you a replacement photographer of equal experience and style.
HOW DO WE BOOK and CAN YOU HOLD MY DATE?
We accept bookings completely on a first-come/first-served basis and we can’t hold wedding dates without a signed contract and retainer. Until the contract is signed other’s may book your date. A non-refundable retainer of 40% is due to reserve your date. Your balance is due 30 days before your event.
Full payment 10 days before the event. When you are ready to "set the date" on my calendar I can forward a link to handle everything online. Quick and easy then we can celebrate together!
